A Valentine’s crafting spree! Here are 4 quick projects to bring a little Valentine spirit to your house.

Tea Anyone? Pop the paper tag off the string on a tea bag. Cut out 2 matching hearts. Write a note on one heart and glue them together with the string in between to create a new tea tag. These are a simple addition to a tea party with the heart shaped cookies that will inevitably be in your home.

A Love Bug Butterfly. Supplies: Construction paper, glue, scissors, marker. Cut a rectangle 3in by 4in. Roll it into a cylinder and secure with glue.  Cut 2 hearts out large enough to be wings (3in long and 1.5in wide should work). Glue the wings to the back of the paper cylinder. Draw a face on the cylinder. Use pipe cleaner for antenna, if you don’t have pipe cleaners (like me) cut skinny rectangles from construction paper and glue them to the inside of the cylinder. I made an accordion fold at the top for fun. I also glued a mini heart to each antennae.

A Buggier Love Bug. Supplies: Egg carton, paint, construction paper, scissors, marker. Cut the egg holder piece of the carton to a desired length. I did 2 humps per bug. Poke two holes in the first hump for adding antennae later ( I suggest you do this before painting). Cut mini hearts out of construction paper to stick in the paint as it’s drying.  Let your kids paint them in Valentine colors and adorn with the mini hearts. Stick antennae in the pre-punched holes made of either construction paper or pipe cleaners. Either option should be able to stay put with out glue. Once the paint has dried use a marker to draw on a face. If your child is older they can paint a face on.

Lovely Lollis. These make a nice gift or table arrangement. Supplies: Construction paper, scissors, glue, lollipops (dum dum size is best). Cut 4 matching hearts from construction paper. Poke a hole 1/4in up from the bottom on each heart. As you put each heart on the stem of the lollipop place glue around the hole in the paper to secure it to the other hearts. A non-candy variation: Use a pipe cleaner for a stem and a colored pom pom as the middle of the flower. Wrap the pipe cleaner around the pom pom to secure it.
